Graham honored

After collecting his 1,000th Rice win Tuesday night with a 4-3 over Texas State in extra innings, head baseball coach Wayne Graham was honored on the field by Rice Athletics Wednesday afternoon before the Owls’ game against the University of Houston.

Graham was given a Rice jersey with the number 1,000 on the back. Joining him behind home plate were former Rice players — all of whom were coached by Graham — Damon Thames, Lance Berkman, Jake Baker, Austin Davis, Geoff Parrott and Jimmy Comerota, along with Athletics Director Joe Karlgaard and Graham’s wife, Tanya.
