Winners of Boniuk Institute’s Embracing Tolerance Essay Contest to be celebrated April 1

Rice University’s Boniuk Institute for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance will celebrate the winners of its 2014 Embracing Tolerance Essay Contest at 7 p.m. April 1 in the Rice Student Center’s Farnsworth Pavilion.

The aim of the contest is to help high school students improve religious literacy, build mutual understanding and develop interfaith collaboration with and among their peers.

As part of this year’s contest, high school students around Houston were asked, “How would the world be — or be different — if the Boniuk Institute’s mission ‘to nurture tolerance among people of all or no faiths’ were finally achieved? And how will we know once this threshold has been reached?”

Winners will read excerpts from their essays. Light refreshments will be provided.

For more information about the contest, see www.boniuk.rice.edu/essaymain.aspx. RSVPs for this free public event are requested at https://app.e2ma.net/app2/survey/1733680/213038625/309e3fb6c9/?v=a.
