Unconventional Students at Rice: Discovering Houston

When Danny Cohen first started looking at Rice, he was unsure of a few things. He didn’t know a lot about Houston, and he didn’t know if he would fit in as a political science junkie at a school so well-known for engineering.

Four years later the Lovett College senior has more than found his niche at Rice University. He discovered a home in Rice’s School of Social Sciences and the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy. Cohen has been president of his residential college and of the Baker Institute Student Forum and co-director of the Gateway Study of Leadership Program, among many other jobs.

Cohen will continue his journey next year at the University of Virginia School of Law.

About Brandon Martin

Greetings, I am a video producer at Rice University in the Office of Public Affairs. I became a Rice Owl in June 2011. Before that, I was at KPRC-TV in Houston as a special projects photojournalist for seven years, where I covered everything from hurricanes to sports. Southeast Texas has been my home my entire life. I am lucky to have a wonderful wife and two of the cutest girls I have ever seen. Go Owls!
