Area middle school students visit Rice

Paul Negrete, assistant director of financial aid at Rice, discusses college opportunities with middle schoolers who visited campus last week for the second annual Student Leadership Conference. Many of these students from IDEA Public Schools would be the first in their families to attend college. They were hosted by Athletics and the Jones Graduate School of Business. They visited Reckling Park, where Negrete spoke to them, and attended breakout sessions at the Jones School, where they learned about setting goals, creating a self-brand and student life at Rice University.
