William Cannady, a Rice professor of architecture, was named a winner in the American Institute of Architects Houston 2014 Design Awards announced July 23. The project, the Zaguan House in Bellaire, Texas, was designed in collaboration with Murphy Mears Architects, a firm operated by Rice alumni Walter Murphy ’77 and Kirby Mears ’76.
Amy Hurwitz, a predoctoral fellow in entrepreneurship with the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, won the North American Champion title in the “22 years and older” division at the North American Scottish Highland Dance Championship July 20. The competition took place in Sugar Land, Texas.
