The Rice campus has played host to many types of wildlife for more than 100 years. But for the first time in university history, there is an intentionally planned beehive on-campus according to Rice historian Melissa Kean.
Students from the community gardening course taught by Nancy Greig and Nancy Rowe extracted the first honey from the Rice bees. The hidden hive was created in the fall of 2013. (Video by Brandon Martin, photos by Jeff Fitlow)
