The Rice School of Architecture will introduce its new Gensler Fabrication Lab with a reception at Anderson Hall at 6 p.m. Jan. 16.

The lab will provide architecture students the means to fabricate models and will gather the school’s woodworking tools at a central location in Anderson Hall. The lab also will add computer resources, two new 3-D printers and a vacuum former for advanced prototyping.

The lab is sponsored by Gensler, a global design firm, in honor of James and Jo Furr. James Furr is a senior lecturer at Rice and managing principal emeritus of Gensler.

The reception is open to the Rice community. It will begin at the conclusion of thesis presentations scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
