Best practices in teaching communication

English Professor Bill Condon from Washington State University shares ideas on how to get students more engaged in writing and boost their critical thinking. He was guest speaker for a Communication in the Disciplines Seminar Feb. 13 in Herring Hall. Tracy Volz, director of the Program in Writing and Communication, invited Rice faculty to learn more about designing effective writing assignments in their disciplines. The seminar included presentations by faculty in the Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality and the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering about how they have implemented best practices in communication in their areas of study.
