BP to present ‘Energy Outlook 2035’ at Rice’s Baker Institute Feb. 27
HOUSTON – (Feb. 24, 2015) – BP will present its “Energy Outlook 2035” at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy Feb. 27. The event will be hosted by the Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies.
Who: Spencer Dale, group chief economist at BP.
What: “BP Energy Outlook 2035” presentation.
When: Friday, Feb. 27, 7:45-9:30 a.m. The presentation begins at 8:15.
Where: Rice University, James A. Baker III Hall, Kelly International Conference Facility, 6100 Main St.
What will the world energy mix look like 20 years from now? Which fuels will gain and lose global market share? What is the outlook for U.S. tight oil and shale gas supply, and what will the recent U.S. energy renaissance mean for global markets in the future? What changes are likely for China, the world’s biggest energy consumer? What are the implications for CO2 emissions? And, with the oil price in the spotlight, what are the forces that will influence energy prices in the decades to come?
Presented by Dale, the “BP Energy Outlook 2035” contributes to the wider debate on global energy issues by asking these and many more questions, according to event organizers.
Dale manages BP’s global economics team, providing economic input into the firm’s commercial decisions. Prior to joining BP in October, Dale was executive director for financial stability at the Bank of England and a member of the Financial Policy Committee. Between 2008 and 2014 he was chief economist of the Bank of England and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. He joined the Bank of England in 1989 and served in numerous roles, including private secretary to Mervyn King and head of economic forecasting. Dale served as a senior adviser at the U.S. Federal Reserve Board of Governors between 2006 and 2008.
The event is closed to the public, but members of the news media who want to attend can RSVP to Jeff Falk, associate director of national media relations at Rice, at jfalk@rice.edu or 713-348-6775.
