Kelley Callaway, director of student publications, has been elected president of the College Media Association (CMA), a national organization for education and support for professionals and students engaged in creating all forms of student-produced media on college and university campuses.

Callaway has served as adviser for Rice’s student-run newspaper and yearbook, The Rice Thresher and The Campanile, respectively, since 2010. Her involvement with  CMA began almost 15 years ago when she was an undergraduate and then graduate student at Georgia Southern University. Most recently, she served as the vice president of member services for CMA. She also has been managing editor of College Media Review, CMA’s flagship journal, and served on several of the association’s committees.

Founded in 1954 as the National Council of College Publications Advisers, CMA now has more than 900 members — the people who advise the nation’s collegiate media newspapers, yearbooks, magazines, broadcast and electronic media and their staffs — from coast to coast.
