BioSciences helps celebrate World Ocean Day at HMNS

Faculty and students from the Department of BioSciences at Rice helped the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences celebrate World Ocean Day June 6. Rice’s dynamic exhibit featured life-sized vinyl banners of coral reefs that Rice faculty member Adrienne Simoes Correa created for her Intro to Aquatic Ecology with Scuba Lab in the spring. Correa and Rice undergraduates Leah Topper, Rebecca Maher and Elaine Shen represented Rice and used the banners to educate more than 100 museum patrons about coral-reef ecology and the importance of maintaining healthy reefs.
