Rice Kinder Institute to host event focusing on collaboration in the Texas Medical Center
HOUSTON – (Nov. 18, 2015) – Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research will host “Connecting Institutions through TMC3: How Do We Facilitate Multi-institutional Collaboration?,” a case study presentation by Texas Medical Center President and CEO Robert Robbins and Gensler Regional Managing Principal David Calkins. The event will be held Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at 2450 Holcombe Blvd.
The case study focuses on TMC3, the strategic plan to connect the various institutions of the Texas Medical Center into a campus with shared technology space, increased mobility and a medical library, and how multi-institutional collaboration takes place.
The event will also include a multidisciplinary panel of experts that will participate in a solution-based discussion focused on innovative approaches to design, planning and development. Panel members will include Allison Joe of the California Strategic Growth Council in Sacramento, Calif.; Vicki Estrada of Estrada Land Planning in San Diego; Rob Rogers of Rogers Partners in New York City; Malcolm Duncan Jr., mayor of Waco, Texas; Cathy Noon, mayor of Centennial, Colo.; and Steven Hernandez, mayor of Coachella, Calif. Kinder Institute Director Bill Fulton will moderate the panel.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, visit www.kinder.rice.edu/MICD.
