Ramon Gonzalez, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering and director of the Rice Energy and Environment Initiative, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (JIMB), the flagship journal of the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology. Gonzalez was a senior editor for JIMB from 2010 to 2015 and is also a member of the editorial boards of Science, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Biotechnology Journal, Metabolic Engineering Communications, Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, and Food Biotechnology.
April DeConick, the Isla Carroll Turner and Percy Turner Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity and chair of the Department of Religion, recently received the Women’s Mentoring Award from the Society of Biblical Literature. Founded in 1880, the society identifies itself as the oldest and largest learned society devoted to the critical investigation of the Bible from a variety of academic disciplines. DeConick serves as co-chair of the society’s New Testament Mysticism Project.
