NASA Deputy Administrator Dava Newman (second from right) met with Rice students Sept. 7 at Brochstein Pavilion prior to opening Rice’s 2016 Houston Spaceport Frontiers Lecture series. Newman met for about an hour with students from Rice’s Professional Science Master’s Program in Space Studies and from Rice’s newly formed chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space before speaking to a standing-room-only crowd in McMurtry Auditorium about NASA’s plans for manned missions to Mars in the 2030s. A video of Newman’s presentation is online here.
