Rice to host Technology Outlook 2025 event Oct. 12

HOUSTON – (Oct. 5, 2016) – Rice University’s Energy and Environment Initiative (EEi) will host a symposium and panel discussion framed by DNV GL’s Technology Outlook 2025 from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 in Duncan Hall’s McMurtry Auditorium.

DNV GL is an internationally recognized organization providing classification, certification and advisory services to a multitude of global and local business with the purpose of safeguarding life, property and environment. Every five years, DNV GL issues a report looking the decade ahead and the functional scientific changes that will drive transformational emerging technologies in a variety of industries, including shipping, energy, the environment and life sciences, as well as others.

Who: Charles McConnell, executive director of EEi, will offer welcoming remarks and moderate the panel discussion; Hans Groothuis, regional manager for business assurance and life sciences at DNV GL, will discuss life sciences; Paal Johansen, executive vice president and regional manager for maritime Americas at DNV GL, will discuss maritime and global transportation; and Jørg Aarnes, head of strategic foresight at DNV GL, will discuss oil and gas and global energy.

What: Reception, panel discussions providing insight into the technology landscape of the next decade within the selected industries, Q&A and networking opportunity for students with industry leaders.

When: 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 12.

Where: McMurtry Auditorium in Duncan Hall, Rice University, 6100 Main St.
