Rice Gallery’s ‘Cubicle’ installation faces slow demolition

American artist Jonathan Schipper, known for his time-based, kinetic installations, discussed his Rice Gallery installation “Cubicle” at the gallery Oct. 7. Schipper’s works reveal the flow of time as imperceptible until, as in life, one sees the physical evidence of its passing, according to Rice Gallery. For “Cubicle,” Schipper constructed an office setting that will undergo a slow demolition over the course of the two-month exhibition.
