The football that Lady Gaga caught at the end of her halftime performance in Super Bowl LI was thrown by Rice’s Brian Mann, associate athletic director for development. Mann volunteered to be Gaga’s offscreen quarterback when the Department of Athletics received a request to fill a vacancy on the field. Mann practiced the routine with Gaga Tuesday through Friday, and on Sunday he threw a perfect toss right before the singer jumped off the stage to conclude the halftime show.
