Rice won several honors at the 2017 CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District IV Accolades competition. Gold awards went to Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) for Rice’s 24-Hour Challenge in the category of annual giving program; DAR for Sallyportal, new alumni program and for animated video; DAR, the Office of Public Affairs and the Office of the President for “Celebrating 50 Years of Black Undergraduate Life” for institutional opportunity and inclusion as well as for long, general information video; and Public Affairs for the article “A Voice for Refugees” in the feature writing category. Silver awards were presented for Traveling Owls in the animated video category; Volunteer Engagement for stewardship and donor relations; and “Celebrating 50 Years of Black Undergraduate Life at Rice” for alumni program, project or special event. A bronze award went to Volunteer Engagement for institutional identity programs, and honorable mention went to the Public Affairs’ article “Through the Eyes of Children.” The awards were announced at the 2017 CASE District IV Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, March 5-7.
