Provost co-chairing NIH working group

Provost Marie Lynn Miranda is co-chairing the Child Enrollment Scientific Vision Working Group, which is part of the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program Advisory Panel.

The working group is expected to provide information to define the scientific goals that should be broadly established through the enrollment of children from diverse backgrounds into All of Us. This research program is a historic effort to gather data from at least 1 million people living in the U.S. to improve the ability to prevent and treat disease based on individual differences in lifestyle, environment and genetics.

The working group’s report will identify the most critical short-, medium- and long-term research outcomes that the All of Us Research Program should try to achieve through its enrollment of children under the age of 18. Miranda also serves on the All of Us Research Program Advisory Panel.

A leader in the evolving field of geospatial health informatics, Miranda specializes in research on environmental health, especially how the environment shapes health and well-being among children.
