Gisela Heffes, associate professor of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American studies, was co-chair of the panel “Dislocados Mesa 2” at the Trans-Atlantic New York Conference at the City College of New York May 24. She also presented “Water in Critical Perspective: Latin American Visual and Literary Narratives” on the panel “Water Crises and Corrosions of Justice: Addressing Water (Mis)management in Literature and Contemporary Media” at the 12th biennial conference of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment at Wayne State University in Detroit June 21.
Cin-Ty Lee, professor and chair of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, will appear from 9 to 10 a.m. July 28 on “Voices miniGeology,” a new program on KPFT-FM 90.1. The program, which airs on the final Friday of each month, is hosted by Daniel Minisini, a member of the Houston Geological Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Lee plans to speak about the role of geologists in society and to take questions via telephone from listeners.
