Future of the energy industry in focus at Rice’s Baker Institute Sept. 28

HOUSTON – (Sept. 14, 2017) – More than a dozen prominent speakers from the oil, gas and power industries will present at the first Global Energy Transitions Summit at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy Sept. 28. The summit is a forum for key market players and decision-makers to gain insight into the future of the energy industry.

Hosted by the Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies and Baker Botts LLP, the event is free and open to the public but registration is required.

Who: Former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, the honorary chair of the Baker Institute, will be the featured keynote speaker. Kenneth Medlock, the James A. Baker III and Susan G. Baker Fellow in Energy and Resource Economics and senior director of the Center for Energy Studies, and Steven Miles, partner at Baker Botts, are the program chairmen.

What: Global Energy Transitions Summit.

When: Thursday, Sept. 28, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Where: Rice University, Baker Hall, Doré Commons, 6100 Main St.

At the summit, speakers, including CEOs and other corporate leaders as well as industry experts in finance, investment and law, will address topics ranging from oil and gas to electricity, renewables and technology. In addition, panel discussions will examine ongoing energy transitions and how economics, policy and technology are driving change across all energy markets.
