Memorial services set for Minter and Haskell

Memorial services for Professors Thomas Haskell and David Minter will be held this month in the Rice Chapel at Rice Memorial Center. The service for Haskell will be Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.; Minter’s service will be Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.

David Minter

Haskell, the Samuel G. McCann Professor Emeritus of History and a former chair of the Department of History, died July 12 at the age of 78 from complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. A Rice News story on his accomplishments can be found here.

Minter, a former English Department chair, interim vice provost and university librarian, interim provost and longtime English professor, died Aug. 21. He was 82. A Rice News story remembering Minter can be found here.
