Rice University’s Energy and Environment Initiative (EEi) signed a memorandum of understanding during the inaugural Russian Energy Week forum in Moscow Oct. 7 with Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (Moscow) and Ufa State Petroleum Technological University.
The agreements will make it possible to promote educational and research programs in the field of oil and gas business and commercialize university initiatives and developments.
According to EEi, the meetings at the Moscow forum provided evidence that the strengthening of Russian-U.S. relations is a mutually beneficial process, and the signed memorandums on interuniversity cooperation create a solid foundation for further growth in this direction.
Per the agreement, EEi plans to continue future discussions and exchanges between Rice and Russian experts and faculty in preparation for next year’s CERAWeek event in Houston, one of the largest annual gatherings of corporate leaders in the world from energy, technology and financial sectors.
The Moscow meetings were organized by the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in the United States.
