Rice Professor José Onuchic was honored at a 60th-birthday symposium at the BioScience Research Collaborative Jan. 6 with colleagues from around the world taking part in panels on the genesis and evolution of Onuchic’s investigation into the physics of biology, including his breakthrough work on protein folding and energy landscapes. Onuchic is Rice’s Harry C. and Olga K. Wiess Chair of Physics, a professor of physics and astronomy and co-director of the Center for Theoretical Biological Physics.
