Baker Institute’s Capuano takes leadership of Energy Information Administration

HOUSTON — (Jan. 10, 2018) — Linda Capuano, most recently a fellow in energy technology in the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, has begun her service as administrator of the Energy Information Administration in the U.S. Department of Energy, the EIA announced Jan. 9.

Capuano was nominated for the post by President Donald Trump Nov. 3 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate Dec. 21. EIA is the department’s statistical and analytical agency.

A member of the Baker Institute since 2014, Capuano has focused her research interests on the energy-water-food nexus and on accelerating the treatment and use of non-freshwater sources.

“Linda Capuano’s appointment reflects one of the underlying concepts of the Baker Institute: a bridge between the world of ideas and action,” said Edward Djerejian, director of the Baker Institute. “Her transition as a scholar into government service at a senior level demonstrates the institute’s role in these two worlds.”

The Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies is ranked No. 2 among the world’s energy- and resource-policy think tanks, according to the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program’s 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report.
