Rice among Princeton Review’s ‘Colleges That Pay You Back’ for 2018

Rice University is ranked No. 17 among the “Top 50 Colleges That Pay You Back” in the 2018 edition of the Princeton Review’s guidebook of “affordable, academically outstanding colleges that graduate their students to successful, rewarding careers.”

“Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck” features schools noted for stellar academics, affordable cost via a comparatively low sticker price and/or generous financial aid and strong career prospects for graduates.

The guidebook is based on the Princeton Review’s return-on-investment ratings, including surveys of administrators at more than 650 colleges about academics, cost, financial aid, career services, graduation rates, student debt, alumni support and PayScale.com surveys of alumni about their starting and mid-career salaries and job satisfaction.

In its profile of Rice, the guidebook notes that the university “certainly works diligently to ensure that affordability is a priority” and cites “generous aid packages” and “numerous merit-based scholarships.”

The guidebook also ranks Rice No. 12 among “Colleges That Pay You Back Without Aid.” “If you don’t qualify for financial aid, these are your 25 best-value schools,” the editors noted.

Rice also ranks No. 22 for “Best Career Placement.” This top 25 list is based on students’ ratings of career services at their university and on alumni’s median starting and mid-career salaries.
