Public religion across the world topic of Rice U. talk Feb. 21

HOUSTON – (Feb. 14, 2018) – The global impact of Christianity, particularly in China and other Asian countries, will be addressed by a panel hosted by Rice University’s Religion and Public Life Program (RPLP) Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in Herring Hall, Room 100.

Titled “Public Religion From West to East,” the event is free and open to the public.

What: “Public Religion From West to East” discussion panel.

When: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Where: Herring Hall, Room 100, Rice University, 6100 Main St.

Panelists Michael Emerson, provost at North Park University and a former professor of sociology at Rice, and Fenggang Yang, a professor of sociology and director of the Center on Religion and Chinese Society at Purdue University, will address the growth of Christianity around the globe and its effect on religions in China and other Asian countries. Di Di, RPLP senior graduate student fellow, will provide opening remarks, and Elaine Howard Ecklund, the Herbert S. Autrey Chair in Social Sciences and RPLP director, will moderate the conversation.
