Days before her appearance as part of the Rice Architecture spring lecture series, Mexican architect Frida Escobedo was chosen to design the Serpentine Pavilion in London, a prestigious annual commission by the city’s Serpentine Galleries to create a unique temporary gallery space. Escobedo, a principal and founder at Taller de Arquitectura in Mexico City who will become a visiting critic at Rice Architecture in the fall, was on campus Feb. 14 to present “(Dis)continuity” as part of the Here series.
Escobedo discussed her work for LIGA, a Mexican forum for contemporary architecture; her Eco Pavilion in Mexico City; her rocking “Civic Stage” at the Lisbon Triennial; and her design of a mural for the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
