Mary Cronin, associate vice president for human resources, will retire June 30.
Formerly director of human resources at Harvard, Cronin joined the Rice staff in 2001.
“Mary professionalized the human resources function at Rice and built a superb team in the process,” Vice President for Administration Kevin Kirby told colleagues in an announcement of Cronin’s retirement. “She is known across campus for her competence, integrity, high standards and good humor. She will be missed by all, as she is fond of saying, ‘here at the institute.’”
Kirby said his office will organize a celebration for Cronin, probably in late May, to pay tribute to her achievements at Rice, including the university being named one of Houston’s best places to work nine years in a row by the Houston Business Journal.
