Revelers with painted faces and colorful outfits celebrated Brazilian Independence Day Sept. 7 during Carnavalhalla, which was held in the Graduate Commons outside Valhalla. Sponsored by the Graduate Student Association, the Brazilian Student Association and the Latin American Graduate Student Association, the event featured traditional Brazilian beer and finger foods such as pão de queijo and empanadas, Brazilian batalá drumming and at least two Brazilian flags worn as vibrant green capes.
