Rice’s Boniuk Institute for Religious Tolerance, as part of its Arts of Tolerance program, invited New York artist Matthew Chavez to bring his acclaimed Subway Therapy project to the university’s Brochstein Pavilion Sept. 20-22. Chavez encouraged members of the Rice community to share their memories and impressions of Hurricane Harvey on Post-it notes and stick them on the pavilion’s glass walls. His visit was an opening act to Arts of Tolerance’s Downtown Series event Sept. 22 at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park.
