Kevin Yuen, office and events manager at the Faculty Club, has been honored with the RICE MILE Award for his outstanding work at the Cohen House and for his volunteer outreach to the Chinese student community.
“Kevin has always gone above and beyond any task needed,” according to the award nomination letter. “He always handles requests with utmost responsibility and integrity whether it is for an on-campus event or visitors at Rice.”
Yuen has also volunteered as an ambassador to several Chinese delegations visiting the university, served as a resource for international students and coordinated many events with Chinese student organizations at Rice.
Johnny Curet, director of campus dining, praised Yuen for his implementation of renovation plans at the Cohen House, leadership of the food truck program, management of the pavilion and mentorship of new hires.
Yuen is pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree at Rice’s Jones Graduate School of Business.
All levels of staff are eligible for consideration for the RICE MILE Award and can be nominated by peers, colleagues, co-workers or supervisors as long as they have at least one year of service and are in good standing. Nominations must be submitted through the RICE MILE Award online nomination form and require approval from senior leadership in the nominee’s school or division.
