History of black Muslims in US focus of Oct. 10 Rice event 

HOUSTON – (Oct. 8, 2018) – Rice University’s Black Student Association and the Islamophobia Resistance Campaign, an independent study headed by Rice sociology lecturer Craig Considine, will host “The Roots of Black Muslim America” at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 in Rice’s Sewall Hall, Room 301. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will focus on the history of black Muslims in the United States and will feature a conversation with Imam Mustafa Carroll, a religious scholar and civil rights activist.

The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session and refreshments.

WHAT: “The Roots of Black Muslim America” event.

WHEN: 7 p.m. Oct. 10.

WHERE: Sewall Hall, Room 301, Rice University, 6100 Main St.
