Rice’s Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) hosted a meeting of more than 100 international education leaders in the Rice Memorial Center Grand Hall Sept. 28. This fall’s Houston Area Forum for Advisors to Internationals was one of the most well-attended Forum meetings in its history, offering information, guidance and support to attendees, which included administrators from universities and colleges from around the Texas Gulf Coast and U.S. Department of Homeland Security and state government officials.

Since its inception in 1978, the biannual forum has served as the conduit for the immigration gatherings and presentations by key government officials and international education leaders. It has a long history of creating goodwill and communication avenues between federal and state government officials with U.S. higher education institutions in the Gulf Coast region. This fall’s forum included screenings of videos promoting Rice’s international population through the OISS’s #YouAreWelcomeHere campaign.
