Sal Khan, the founder of free online education platform Khan Academy who was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2012, spoke Feb. 28 in Stude Concert Hall as part of the Rice University President’s Lecture Series. In a lecture titled “Education Reimagined,” Khan told the story of how he founded Khan Academy, a nonprofit organization that is educating millions of people across the world.
Khan, who attributed some of his earliest success to a surprise $10,000 donation by Rice alumna Ann Doerr ’75, stayed after the lecture to chat with students — who had a lot to ask the educator whose web tutorials have been viewed 1.5 billion times. (Photos by Jeff Fitlow)
