Migration Policy Institute President Selee to speak at Rice March 18

HOUSTON – (March 13, 2019) – Deeply intertwined social, economic, business, cultural and personal relationships between the United States and Mexico mean the U.S.-Mexico border is more like a seam than a barrier, weaving together two economies and cultures, according to a new book by Migration Policy Institute President Andrew Selee.

Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy will host Selee March 18 for a discussion of his book, “Vanishing Frontiers: The Forces Driving Mexico and the United States Together,” which examines how productive connections between people on both sides of the border have blurred boundaries that once separated the two countries.

The event is hosted by the Baker Institute’s Mexico Center. The cost of attendance is $15 for the public, and registration is at www.bakerinstitute.org/events/1991.

A book signing will follow Selee’s presentation. Copies of the book will be available for purchase from the Rice University Campus Store.
