Maria Oden, a teaching professor in bioengineering, director of Rice’s Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen and co-director of the Rice 360o Institute for Global Health, gave the lunch keynote speech, “Invention in the Classroom: Toward Real Impact,” at the eighth annual meeting of the National Academy of Inventors in Houston April 10. The meeting featured presentations on collaboration between industry, academia and government, cross-disciplinary research and insights for future innovation.
Pulickel Ajayan, the Benjamin M. and Mary Greenwood Anderson Professor in Engineering, department chair of materials science and nanoengineering and professor of chemistry, was inducted as a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in an April 11 ceremony at Space Center Houston during the organization’s annual meeting.
