The flowers of Natasha Bowdoin’s “Sideways to the Sun” installation came to life April 27 at the Moody Center for the Arts with costumes designed, created and inhabited by New York-based artist Machine Dazzle.
Joined by Hanszen College senior Nonie Hilliard, University of Houston professor and artist Jillian Conrad and dancers from Houston’s Open Dance Project, who often collaborate on responses to exhibited works at the Moody, Machine Dazzle and his troupe performed throughout the installation that inspired his creative costuming.
Part fashion show, part comedic ballet, the evening’s performance was followed by a discussion between Machine Dazzle and Bowdoin and a lively Q&A session with the audience. (Photos by Katharine Shilcutt)
