The Rice University Police Department partnered with the Houston Police Department (HPD) to host a PACE Youth camp June 10-21 on campus. Twenty at-risk youths experienced a presentation by HPD Mounted Patrol, visited local museums such as the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, checked out a HPD helicopter and participated in a bicycle course designed to help students understand the dangers of intoxicated driving, among other activities. Additionally, the group toured the Rice campus and learned more about the university.
PACE Youth provides counseling, training and mentoring services to youths 10-17 years old and their families in an effort to stop intergenerational incarceration in families. For more information, visit https://paceyouth.org/about-us.
