Owl Fest set for Aug. 17 at Rice Stadium

Owl Fest 2019, a free fan festival celebrating Rice’s fall sports, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 17 on the west concourse of Rice Stadium.

The football team will hold an open scrimmage followed by an autograph and meet-and-greet session featuring members of the football, soccer and volleyball teams. Upon the conclusion of the autograph session, fans will be able to take the field for sports-themed games.

Food trucks and other vendors will provide food and beverages for sale. Other activities include a photo booth with Sammy the Owl, a Shop Rice Owls team apparel shop and the Owls Kidz Zone, which will feature a ball-toss inflatable, sidewalk chalk and face painting. Members of Rice’s spirit groups will also be on hand.

The Rice ticketing staff will be available to answer questions and help fans secure their seats for this fall’s action.

Free parking is available in the Greenbriar Lot on the west side of the stadium. Gates will open shortly after 10 a.m. for those wanting to watch more of the football scrimmage.
