Four new faculty members in the School of Humanities gave short “flash talks” Jan. 28 in Herring Hall. Meant to give guests a crash course in the faculty members’ areas of expertise, the talks ranged from art history — two new assistant professors, Sophie Crawford-Brown and Farshid Emami, discussed the art and architecture of early Italy and early modern Islam — to more esoteric matters: Philosophy professor Uriah Kriegel is known for the “self-representationalist” theory of consciousness and Kamala Visweswaran, the T.T. and W.F. Chao Professor of Transnational South Asian Studies, is renowned for her work in the fields of feminist theory and ethnography. (Photos by Jeff Fitlow)
