Tapia Camps, a summer program of Rice’s Tapia Center for Excellence and Equity in Education, has been recognized with two national awards. Tapia Camps, which promote diversity in higher education and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among high school students, was awarded the American Camp Association’s 2020 Eleanor P. Eells Award for Program Excellence at the association’s national conference in San Diego in February. The program was also recognized with a 2019 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
