Robert Flatt, adjunct professor in management at the Jones Graduate School of Business, earned an honorable mention for his book “Healing Art: Don’t Let Anything Ruin Your Day” (Bright Sky Press, 2016) in the art category of the Eric Hoffer Book Awards. The awards recognize excellence in publishing by small, academic and independent presses.

Rice chemist James Tour and graduate student William Sikkema will be featured in an American Chemical Society webinar titled “Advances in Graphene Technology: Making the Paralyzed Walk” at 1 p.m. June 1. The webinar will focus on their creation of Texas-PEG and its possible application for aiding spinal-cord injury victims. The webinar is free and open to the public. Chao Chair in Chemistry as well as a professor of computer science and of materials science and nanoengineering at Rice.
