Sid Rich College

Tapa rehearse a scene from Paula Vogel’s “The
Baltimore Waltz,” the first production of the Rice
Player’s 2001-2002 season.

Directed by
Mark Ramont, the play tells the story of Carl and Anna,
who take a whirlwind trip of Europe after the two siblings
learn that Anna has a fatal illness, Acquired Toilet Disease.
The crazy ailment is one of several clues to the audience
that Anna is not the one who is really sick — Carl
is dying of AIDS, and Anna creates this fantastical journey
that they could never take since Carl is dying in a Baltimore
hospital.

The production
runs Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 4-6 at 8 p.m. at Hamman Hall.
Playgoers can donate $1 to benefit a local AIDS support
group when they buy their tickets.
