Tapa rehearse a scene from Paula Vogels The
Baltimore Waltz, the first production of the Rice
Players 2001-2002 season.
Directed by
Mark Ramont, the play tells the story of Carl and Anna,
who take a whirlwind trip of Europe after the two siblings
learn that Anna has a fatal illness, Acquired Toilet Disease.
The crazy ailment is one of several clues to the audience
that Anna is not the one who is really sick Carl
is dying of AIDS, and Anna creates this fantastical journey
that they could never take since Carl is dying in a Baltimore
hospital.
The production
runs Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 4-6 at 8 p.m. at Hamman Hall.
Playgoers can donate $1 to benefit a local AIDS support
group when they buy their tickets.
