Humanities hosts a welcome reception for new dean, Kathleen Canning

A welcome reception was held Jan. 24 for Kathleen Canning, who took on the role of Rice’s new dean of humanities Jan. 1. Inside a packed Farnsworth Pavilion, Canning met with faculty and staff of the School of Humanities over light bites and refreshments. Prior to her post at Rice, Canning was chair of the largest Department of History in the U.S. at the University of Michigan.
