Throughout O-Week, academic advisers fanned out across campus to meet with new Rice students in their college commons. Upperclassmen and representatives from the Office of Academic Advising covered a variety of topics each day, including graduation requirements, meeting with divisional advisers, advanced placement information, the creation of a four-year academic plan and the First-year Writing-Intensive Seminar all freshmen must take. Faculty from various academic departments were also on hand to assist in the development of first-semester schedules and to ensure students are on the right path for the major programs they want to study.
