Graham inducted into Texas Sports Hall of Fame

For an outstanding career of service and accomplishments to the sport of baseball, Rice head coach Wayne Graham was one of six state legends inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Feb. 9.

Graham joined a prestigious class of hall of fame inductees that included current Houston Astros Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio, basketball coach Harley Redin of national champion Wayland Baptist University, Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton and former Dallas Cowboys all-pro tackle Rayfield Wright.

“This is a tremendous honor for me, my family and for Rice, and I am truly thankful to be selected to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame,” Graham told the audience at the induction ceremony held at the Ferrell Center in Waco. “I am a native Texan and have been involved with baseball and sports my whole life, so this is very meaningful. I congratulate the other inductees. I am in awe of their accomplishments.”

Among Graham’s many accomplishments at Rice is leading the Owls to their first national championship in 2003, the same year he was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame.
