Lovett College turns 50

Lovett College celebrated its 50th anniversary Nov. 2-3 with a variety of commemorative activities, including two parties and a wine tasting. Ed Emmett ’71, former Lovett College president and Harris County judge; Robert Curl, Lovett’s first magister, professor emeritus and 1996 Nobel laureate; and José Onuchic, the current magister, the Harry C. and Olga K. Wiess Professor of Physics and co-director of the Center for Biological and Theoretical Physics, offered remarks prior to the college’s “Big Party” Nov. 3.

Rice’s seventh residential college, named for the university’s first president, also received celebratory city, county and state proclamations in honor of the occasion. (Photos by Christina Lee and Henry Baring) Additional photos are online at https://bit.ly/2DupB0n.
