Rice United Way Campaign surpasses goal, enters final days

As the Rice United Way Campaign enters its final days, the $266,436 raised campuswide has exceeded the $250,000 goal, and campaign leaders are optimistic that the final total will be even higher since pledges and donations will be accepted through Jan. 21.

Three campus divisions have hit 100 percent participation: Office of the President, Public Affairs and the Office of the Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Facilities Engineering and Planning has the most donors, 124. With $28,493 raised, Social Sciences leads the campus in total money contributed.

All of the matching-gift funds offered by Rice Board of Trustees Chairman Bobby Tudor ’82 and his wife, Phoebe, have been claimed, which represents $25,000 in new and increased contributions over last year.

Pledges may be made by automatic payroll deduction, spread over all of 2019’s paychecks, via Esther through Jan. 21. To give by check or credit card, or to designate any pledge — including a payroll pledge — to benefit a specific United Way agency, geographic area or community program or priority, Rice donors may use the pledge form available on the Rice United Way Campaign website, unitedway.rice.edu, where more information on the campaign is available.
