Sebastian Gonzalez has always considered himself a diverse person, involved in spectrum of different activities. “I’ve always been a person who has different interests and explores them,” he said. “When I got to Rice, I focused on a couple of different things and really put my heart and soul into them.”
Pursuing degrees in sport management and economics, Gonzalez is also President of Rice Urban Agriculture and played a key role in gaining the funding for Rice’s campus garden. When he’s not in the garden, he’s at Minute Maid Park, where he works as a business strategy analytics intern for the Houston Astros.
“I was originally an engineering major, but I realized it wasn’t my passion,” he said. “My advice is to go into school without a concrete plan. It gave me the ability to create this garden, to work at the Astros and to meet awesome people. I felt empowered by Rice to do things like this.”
